Eco Friendly Heating Solutions - For Home and Business

“Go for Green”

Maximise your comfort, minimise your running costs

If you have a new build, renovation or retrofit project, Underfloor Heating is a must. The system changes the way your home feels and is completely hidden from view. It can be installed in any room in the house and we can offer a system for any type of floor. The beauty of UFH is that it will run at very low flow temperatures but give an even and constant heat to the room. Once a floor is up to temperature, it will take very little energy to maintain the heat especially when used with concrete screeds.

Why choose Underfloor Heating

Underfloor Heating (UFH) gives you several benefit over the more traditional radiator system. First of all, underfloor heating is healthy. Hardly raising any dust, it is the perfect heating system for people suffering from allergies. Secondly, the gentle radiant heat provided by Uponor underfloor heating systems acts directly on the body without the intermediate stage of first warming the room air. The result: the same comfort level, but with a 2°C lower room temperature. And this is beneficial to your health, because warm feet and cool head is exactly what the human body requires.

A well designed UFH system will also offer a big saving on running cost as the input heat for the system is at low temperatures, as low as 40°C at peak demand.

An Ancient Idea used today

Underfloor heating is not a new concept but first used by the Romans nearly 2000 years ago, Although the heat medium was warm air, the principle was exactly the same. Empty spaces under the stone floors were heated by furnaces and the air travelled through duct ways which warmed their buildings.

These days we use warm water in pipes to warm the floor. The heat source is now a boiler or heat pump instead of an open fire.

How does it work?

The pipework for the UFH system is laid at specific centres to give the correct heat output. This is relative to the heatloss of the room to be heated. The pipework is fastened to insulation which has a visqueen cover and then a self – leveling screed is applied over the entire area covering the pipes.

A manifold is used to connect all the pipe loops together and act as a form of control for flow and balancing of each zone. Thermostats are added to each zone to control the temperature required.
